These standards (AS/NZS 3760:2003 In-Service Safety Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment) have been introduced to assist in eliminating the numerous accidents that occur each year from electric shocks caused by faulty and misused electrical equipment (1317 electric shocks reported to Energy Safety 2005/06). The lack of available Tradespeople, especially within the electrical trade, means it has become increasingly harder to find electricians and contractors to undertake the inspection and testing of such equipment.
